Closet Staple: Power Suit

In honor of March 8th, International Women’s Day, I wanted to pay homage to the power suit. While women are invincible wearing whatever makes them feel beautiful, there’s something to say about a women rocking a suit. It almost feels like armor. A versatile outfit that used to be limited to the office, works for a number of occasions. On this night It was perfect for an Oscar party. Not only did I get a ton of compliments, (someone even said it looked like a vintage Yves Saint Laurent piece) but I felt so powerful and fearless in it.

I’ve been on a hunt for a white suit since last December, but had no luck finding a set that fit me the way I wanted it to. With a specific look in my mind, I hit the malls determined to find my suit. I got the blazer and the trousers at two different stores, and it surprisingly worked well together. If I had more time, I would’ve hemmed the trousers a bit, but the nude pumps worked well enough so my pants didn’t drag. I finished the look off with a black lace bra and green chandelier earrings.

To the women who are bold enough to follow their dreams and passions, to the independent, intelligent females who are striving and working to elevate themselves everyday…cheers to running the world, Happy International Women’s Day.
